UHS has introduced modular system for all of its affiliated medical colleges to keep up with the updated medical curricula around the globe. New Syllabus has been applied from 28 march 2023.
Medical and dental students will be taught clinical subjects from the first year of their degrees under a modular integrated curriculum. Till now, medical science and clinical subjects were taught in different order, but this is being changed according to the recommendation of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The chairing of a meeting in this regard, Vice-Chancellor (VC) UHS, Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore stated that the move has been made on the basis of accreditation criteria set by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). The WFME assessment will include a physical visit which is to take place within 12-15 months and will be well within the 2024 deadline to attain WFME recognition for Pakistani doctors to practice internationally.
