What is NLE? 

NLE stands for national licensing exams, introduced by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). According to the act, MBBS graduates of Pakistan and foreign medical universities will have to pass NLE before getting the license for practicing in Pakistan. 

Passing Criteria for NLE?

PMC has issued a notification regarding passing criteria for NLE, according to which 70% marks will be needed to declare as pass. Although there are many concerns among doctors' organizations and medical students of Pakistan and the Pakistani students studying abroad about the passing criteria for NLE. During the whole MBBS (5years), the passing criteria are always 50% in almost all the medical colleges of Pakistan and AJ&K. Up till now PMC has not issued any public notification about changing its passing criteria for NLE, however, it is projected as passing criteria for NLE will be changed, as a large number of students will fail the exam if it remained so. 

NLE Registration Fee?

According to PMC, the NLE registration fee will be 12000 Pakistani rupees, which again medical organizations and medical students see as a revenue-generating source for the Govt. Of Pakistan. The NLE registration fee can be paid via bank Challan which is printed out at the submission of online application on the PMC official website or it can also be paid online through debit/credit card. If we look at the poverty index and the number of doctors currently practicing in Pakistan, the NLE registration fee is a bit higher. The NLE registration fee will be valid for once only, if you fail the exam, you will have to start the process all over again from registration to the examination. 

NLE Exam Pakistan Syllabus 2021?

A few days back PMC has issued an NLE exam syllabus Pakistan 2021 through its official website www.pmc.gov.pk. NLE exam Pakistan syllabus 2021 mostly consists of the syllabus of the University of health sciences (UHS), which regulates all the public and private sector medical colleges of the province of Punjab, Pakistan. NLE exam Pakistan syllabus 2021 constitutes basic sciences as well as clinical practice. NLE exam Pakistan syllabus 2021 is however more focused on the clinical side for a good assessment of giving practice license to doctors.
