Facial Nerve Examination

The facial nerve gives motor branches to the muscles that function for facial expression. Facial nerve is therefore tested by asking the patient to crease up their forehead (raising their eyebrows), close their eyes and keep them closed against resistance, puff out their cheeks and reveal their teeth.
